Ernest B. Guerra received the Gift of Life on October 5,1948, and the Gift of Eternal Life on September 17, 2025. He passed away peacefully at the Dallas Veterans Affairs Medical Center, following complications associated with Parkinson's disease.

Born in Alamo, Tex., the seventh of 11 children, he moved McAllen, Tex. in 1951. His parents, Emigdio Sr. and Dora Guerra and brothers Cyleko@nd-fh.comarlos, Pedro, Emigdio, Jr., Santos and Gilbert preceded him in death. He is survived by brothers Horace Gavin and Armando Guerra and sisters Elia Lopez, Corina Lopez and Irma Ruiz as well as numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

A 1967 graduate of McAllen High School, Ernest excelled in football and baseball winning several awards as a member of the Mighty McHi Bulldogs. Following graduation he attended North Texas State University. He interrupted his college studies to serve his country in the United States Army, as an infantryman during Vietnam Conflict. The decorated honorably discharged veteran return to North Texas State to resume his studies.

After graduation he began working as landscaper and later launched his own company EG Landscaper Contractors. For more than 25 years his company served the elite neighborhood homes and businesses of Highland Park and University Park. His clients praised his horticulture knowledge and customer service skills. They also marveled at his professionalism that demonstrated a commitment to quality, attention to detail and timely project completion.

A member of First Baptist Church in Garland, Guerra fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.

His burial will take place at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. North Dallas Funeral Home is handling the burial arrangements.
