Obituary

Obituary of Eugenia Dolores Lydon Jean left this life in Plano, Texas surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. It is with immense love that we celebrate the extraordinary life of Eugenia D. (Jean) Lydon, 98, wife of Richard E. (Dick) Lydon (1924-2012), mother of Rich Lydon (Gay), Barbara Debevec (Carl), Bob Lydon (Dolores), MaryAnn Hart (Joe), and Don Lydon (Effie). She was a lively grandmother to 11 grandchildren: Jenny Debevec, Joe Hart, Elissa Debevec Draper, Richard Lydon, Kristina Lydon, Kevin Hart, Travis Lydon, Ciara Lydon Burton, Meghan Hart Cunningham, Kelsey Lydon Fernandez, and Erika Lydon. She was a delighted Gigi to 17 great grandchildren: Lenora/Six Silva, Vincent Vitagliano, Dylan Hart, Conor Lydon, Ben Cunningham, Cooper Hart, John Hart, Rhys Burton, Grant Lydon, Theo Burton, Hannah Cunningham, Owen Draper, Audrey Lydon, Lluna Fernandez, Rose Lydon, Bowie Fernandez, and Aidan Draper. Jean and Dick Lydon were an amazing team for over 65 years of marriage as parents, as business partners, on the golf course, and traveling the world. Its difficult to think of one without the other! Jean met Dick while working at PanAm Airlines at Midway Airport in Chicago, IL. They both shared a zest for each other as well as the developing travel industry and were married in 1947. While Dick continued with the airline industry, Jean dove into the work that comes with five children. In 1956 they moved to Cleveland where Jean and Dick worked side by side while owning Lydon Travel with offices in Cleveland and Naples, FL. In 1976 they retired to Naples, Florida and owned/operated Lydon Transportation, the limousine service for the Ritz Carlton Hotel, Naples. They have adventured by land, sea, and air with family and friends all over the world. Their retirement home was a hub for family, friends, and parties for over 35 years. Famously, Jean and Dick elevated the 5:00 martini to a true tradition! They were a joy to watch on the dance floor, and usually the last ones to leave any party. Jeans sewing and design skills are legendary, making clothes for her family, for their numerous trips abroad, and for fancy events. Several of her couture classics are still worn by her granddaughters! Jean celebrated the summer of her 98th year with a long trip to visit family in California. She has made her home for the past two years with MaryAnn and Joe Hart in Plano,Texas. Jean was a force of nature, a woman who lived with enthusiasm, and who was not afraid of lifes changes. We love her and will miss her dearly. Funeral arrangements were made by North Dallas Funeral Home, TX. Jean will be interred next to Dick at St. Johns Catholic Church Memorial Garden, Naples, Florida.
