Eva Ruth Miller passed away peacefully Saturday, August 3 at the age of 88.
Funeral: Services will be held on Saturday, August 31at 11:00 am at St. Francis Anglican Church at 3838 Walnut Hill Ln., Dallas 75229. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Francis Anglican church or the Alzheimer's Association or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
Eva was born in Pittsburg, Texas to Robert and Ernestelle Raynes. After graduating High School in Pittsburg, Eva attended the Parkland Hospital School of Nursing in Dallas. She graduated and passed her State Board Exams becoming a RN September 1956. Eva spent her entire nursing career in Dallas. In 1981 she obtained certification as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Her specialty was Maternal Health and Family Planning, working and directing clinics in the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas system until her retirement.
Eva married James E. (Jim) Miller in 1973 and they enjoyed 45 years of happy marriage. Entertaining at 'Miller's on the Creek' she was a wonderful and generous hostess. Numerous birthdays, special dates, Cowboy games and Super Bowls and neighborhood parties were hosted at their backyard oasis in Farmers Branch. Especially important were the many Easter Parties she held for her St. Francis friends and their families. Stepping out on the dance floor and cruising on the seas were activities she and Jim enjoyed throughout their marriage. She was a kind and loving Grandmother to her granddaughters, Valerie and Kerry, who enjoyed many adventures with their grandparents.
Most important to her was her faith and her church. For over half a century she shared her service and love to the St. Francis Anglican Church.
Eva was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brother William (Bill) Raynes, brother-in law Gil Hardesty and stepson Seth Miller.
Survivors: sister Bettye Hardesty, stepson Scott and wife Kay Miler, daughter in law Diane Miller, granddaughters Valerie Miler and husband Diego Gonzales and Kerry Miller, many nieces and nephews and numerous friends.
