Evelyn
Womble
November 30, 1933 – February 13, 2024
In loving memory of Evelyn Womble, a cherished soul whose life blossomed with the tender care of a skilled gardener, enlightened minds as a dedicated teacher, and nourished hearts as a talented cook and caregiver. A life-long learner, Evelyn embraced knowledge and sowed seeds of wisdom that will forever bloom in our hearts.
Evelyn passed away peacefully on Feb 13, 2024, at the age of 90, surrounded by her family.
Evelyn grew up on her parents', Charlie and Janie Crouch, ranch in Blanket, Texas. She attended the University of North Texas, completing a degree in education. Her first teaching assignment was in Gladewater, Texas where she met Harold Womble. They married in 1956, lived in Lubbock for a year, and moved to the Dallas Fort Worth area where they raised four boys. Evelyn passed her determination and strong work ethic to each of them. When they were all in school, Evelyn returned to college, completing a Master's degree at Texas Woman's University.
Throughout her life, Evelyn was passionately involved in many activities. As a mother, she was active in scouting with all her sons. She and Harold were charter members of Chapel Hill United Methodist Church where she served for decades in numerous capacities, including children's Sunday school. She taught in Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for many years. Following her retirement, she became a Master Gardener where she volunteered and continued learning for over 20 years. Evelyn and Harold created many memories while traveling to 20 countries with friends and family. They were married for 56 years, until Harold's death in 2012. We are thankful they are now reunited.
Evelyn's legacy is woven into the fabric of her family. She is survived by her sons David (Jeanette, Alan, Brandon), Ross (Laurie, Elyse), Glen (Kathryn, Sarah, Jacob), and Todd, and two great-granddaughters.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to Chapel Hill United Methodist Church or Dallas County Master Gardeners Association.
