Obituary

Susan Daniels Fox passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, after a long illness. Susan was born on June 19, 1932, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up in York, Pennsylvania, where her father George Daniels took a career position as an accountant. Susan always had a passion for literature and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism from Simmons College in Boston in 1954. Pursuing her dream working in publishing, Susan moved to New York in 1955 to take a position as an assistant editor for Simon and Schuster. While working for the famous publishing house, Susan was fortunate enough to work with television host Steve Allen and author Kay Thompson, and fondly remembered Carly Simon as a child playing the piano.In early 1957, Susan returned to York, Pennsylvania, where she met Ed Fox in the fall that year. In April 1958, Susan and Edward were married and spent 54 happy years together, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008. In addition to being an avid reader, Susan had a passion for classical music and maintained an extensive audio collection of all the great composers. Susan was also quite active in the community, serving as president of the Prestonwood Elementary School PTA in Dallas for several years, where she earned the Lifetime Achievement Award for her many years of service. While acting as PTA president, Susan was instrumental in creating the Prestonwood Elementary School library and establishing their annual Fall Carnival event.
