Obituary

Frances Marion Bohan Tracewell passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Born on January 17, 1938, Fran grew up as the oldest of five children in the small but lively community of Alexis, Illinois.

A proud alumna of the University of Oklahoma, she graduated in 1960 with a degree in Medical Technology and was a member of Delta Gamma Women's Fraternity. Her love of Oklahoma football ran deep—she cheered for the Sooners faithfully and attended games well into 2018. It was during her time at OU that she met the love of her life, William "Bill" R. Tracewell Jr. They married in August of 1960 and quickly began building a full and joyful life together.

After brief moves to Kentucky and North Carolina, Bill and Fran settled in Farmers Branch, Texas, where they raised their three children. Their home became a hub of warmth and hospitality, whether Fran was tending the garden, playing golf at Brookhaven Country Club, or preparing one of her famously delicious meals. She took pride in creating one of the most beautiful backyards on the Presidents Golf Course and was known as a gracious, effortless hostess—especially during her beloved Christmas parties and post OU–Texas game gatherings.

Fran spent the majority of her professional life at RHD Memorial Hospital as a medical technologist and lab supervisor, where she was respected for her skill, dedication, and leadership. She was also a familiar face at St. John's of Texas, helping "Big Bill" at the family clothing store whenever she was needed.

A third-generation member of P.E.O., Fran was active for many years in Chapter AG in Dallas before transferring to Chapter IZ after moving to Lantana in 2009—downsizing but still happily living on a golf course. Her happiest times, though, often came at the family's second home in Horseshoe Bay, Texas, where she spent cherished days golfing, enjoying a glass of wine on the back porch, and watching her grandchildren fish or play in the backyard.

Fran was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mina Rae Bohan; her husband, William R. Tracewell Jr.; and her siblings Barbara Ann Bohan, Elizabeth Bohan Romero, Mary Bohan Lindley, and John E. Bohan Jr. She was lovingly known as the matriarch of the family, a role she carried with grace and strength.

She is survived by her children: Cynthia Tracewell Gordon and son-in-law Michael of Colleyville; William Edward Tracewell and daughter-in-law Jenny of Flower Mound; and Ann Elizabeth Tracewell-Wang and son-in-law Michael of Colleyville. She also leaves behind her treasured grandchildren: Rebecca Gordon Sinco (David), Jacob, Jeremy, and Rachel Gordon; Grace, Bohan, and Megan Tracewell; and Alexander, Davidson, Bradford, and Colton Wang; along with many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends who adored her.

Despite the challenges of Alzheimer's, Fran met each day with courage and held tightly to her faith. Even in her final weeks, she found comfort in prayer, following along during Mass and reciting the rosary with the devotion that had sustained her throughout her life.

A Funeral Mass will be held on January 16, 2026, at 3:30 p.m. at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch. Interment will follow for family, and a Celebration of Life for all will take place afterward; details will be provided at the service.
