Betty Moncrief Funk, of Dallas, Texas passed away on February 14th , 2012. She was born in Morgan City, Louisiana on June 10th, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Dalton James Moncrief and the late Birdie Margaret Giroir Moncrief. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, the late John Laurence Funk Jr. She was raised in Port Arthur, Texas and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1951. She went on to graduate from Lamar State College of Technology in 1955 with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. She began a long and illustrious teaching career in 1955 at Tyrrell Elementary School in Port Arthur, Texas. She went on to teach at Highland Park Elementary School in Nederland Texas (1974
