Joseph Lee Godwin of Midlothian, Texas passed away on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at the age of 85.Joseph was born to Joe and Lottie Godwin in Dallas, Texas on October 20, 1930. He served in the United States Army in Korea as a rifleman in the infantry. He was wounded twice and awarded the Purple Heart. Joseph also served 5 years in the Reserves as a Mail Clerk. Joseph retired from UT Health Northeast.Joseph was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers Marlin, Henry, James, Archie and Carroll; his sisters Fannie, Edna, Dottie and Edith.Joseph is survived by his younger brother, Charles and sister-in-law, Shirley of Midlothian, Texas; sister-in-law, Glenda Godwin of Ruidoso, New Mexico; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.Visitation will be from 10:00 am 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in the Brooks Family Chapel at the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Interment will follow the service at the DFW National Veterans Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway where he will receive Military Honors.Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
