Carmen Flournoy Greathouse of Richardson, Texas died of natural causes on January 10, 2012 at the age of 94.She was born November 14, 1917 in Pittsfield, Massachusettsto Carmen and Thomas Flournoy. Carmen was educated at the Dobbs School in New York and enteredthe field of journalism as a reporter for the Berkshire Eagle in 1938. At the time, she was one of the first qualified female aviators in New England. With the outbreak of World War II she entered the Navy with the first contingent of WAVES and reached the rank of Lieutenant by the end of hostilities. She marriedMarine Corps Captain RobertGreathouse in June 1945 and together they raised seven children through his 40-year career with 3M.She is survived by sons John, Robert, and Michael; daughters Carmen, Maria and Julie; nine grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren.Husband, Robert pre-deceased her in 2004 and son, Thomas in 1965. Burial is scheduled for January 12, 2012 at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Veterans Cemetery.On Friday, January 13, 2012, to celebrate a life dedicated tofamily and church, a recitation of The Holy Rosary will be at 10:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am at All Saints Church, 5231 Meadowcreek Drive, Dallas, Texas 75248Please send the family condolences and sign the guestbook on this website.
