Eleanor Agnes (Carlson) Haas, age 90, peacefully passed away onWednesday, August 24, 2016 at Baylor Carrollton Hospital. She lived a long rich life.She was born to Albert and Agnes Carlson on July 31, 1926 in Bergen County, New Jersey. Eleanor was raised with her brother, Al, in Hackensack, New Jersey.She met the love of her life, Dick, and they were married on June 14, 1947 at Holy Trinity Church in Hackensack, New Jersey. They made their home at Lake Lenape in Andover, New Jersey, where they raised 4 daughters, until 1978 when a job promotion moved them to Garland, Texas. They were able to travel and enjoy their lives together and celebrated 47 years of marriage before he passed in 1995.Eleanor lived 13 years with her daughter in Grapevine, Texas where she joined the Grapevine Senior Center and enjoyed doing volunteer work and made numerous friends.At the age of 88, when she was no longer able to drive, she decided that she wanted to live independently. She moved into a retirement community and was surrounded by people her own age. Her schedule soon became booked with many activities and her social calendar was filled all the time with bingo, dancing, mystery tours and more!She was feisty, loving, caring and a stranger to No one. A friendly face with a smile. Oh that SMILE!Her favorite foods were Amores Pizza and Braums ice cream, but liver and onions were also on the menu! She enjoyed reading, especially romance novels. Eleanor spent time watching the Sci-Fi and Cooking channels, especially the Pioneer Woman, and old westerns.She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Larsen (Tony), Janet Hooey (David), Barbara Haas and Lynette Hlivko (Jim). She had 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick Haas.
