Obituary

Barry Michael Harwell, 75, of Corinth, TX, died peacefully, with his wife, Alamar, at his side on September 5, 2020, at the University of Texas Southwest Medical Center in Dallas, TX, after a brief illness. Barry was born to parents, Jamie Woodrow and Dera Ora Bell Burks Harwell of Shreveport, La. Barry is survived by his wife, Alamar Briseno Harwell; two children, Todd Walker Harwell of Corinth, TX; Jill Kathryn Harwell-Olofsson and husband, William Anthony Olofsson of Mountain View, CA.; granddaughter, Kendall Grace Harwell; sister-in-law, Celia Slabaugh; mother-in-law, Fortunata Briseno; brother-in-law, Oscar Briseno and wife Martha; Abel Briseno and wife, Peggy, of Farmers Branch and San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Patty Harwell of Rowlett, Tx; niece, Penney Caramia of Dallas, TX, nephew, Richard Harwell and wife Stacy; great nephew and niece, Michael and Claire Harwell of Dallas, Tx; and numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry B. Harwell of Mesquite, TX; father-in-law, Gerardo Briseno, and brother-in-law, Gary W. Slabaugh.Barry graduated from Fair Park High School in Shreveport, LA and attended North East State College on a full track scholarship prior to entering the United States Army Security Agency serving in Nuremberg and Munich, Germany. After returning to the United States he graduated from Louisiana State University with his accounting degree in Baton Rouge, where his children were born. After graduation Barry returned to military service as a Lieutenant serving in Savannah, Illinois and at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. While in Missouri he earned his degree in Law Enforcement and received his private pilots license. Upon leaving the military he worked as the Investigations Officer for the Oklahoma Bureau of Investigation. In Oklahoma, Missouri and finally, Dallas, Texas, he found his gift for sales, working for numerous business and tech companies. Barry never failed to win numerous awards and trips for his outstanding salesmanship over many years. Very few could resist his enthusiasm, humor, and persuasive charm.Barry loved meeting people and talking with anyone about everything! He loved sports of any kind, particularly golf. While hearts are broken, his family is comforted in knowing his pain is gone, he is smiling so big and we know he is talking up a storm with his brother, parents, and dear friends.
