The family will greet family and friends and there will be a viewing at North Dallas Funeral Home on Saturday, September 1, 2012 from 3pm to 5pmBorn in Sudan, TX, after moving with his family to Dallas, became a graduate of Crozier Technical High School in 1947, married the mother of his children in 1950 and was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1951. He served his Country and was deployed to Korea during the Korean Conflict, where he served until his honorable discharge in 1953. After returning home, he began a life-long career in residential home-building and construction. He was a Vice President with Centex Construction Company from 1960 to 1970, until he decided to strike out on his own and start his own land development, multi-family construction and single-family building companies. Between 1972 and 1979 he built and sold 51 townhomes in Carrollton, TX including one for him in 1978 where he lived until his passing.Known for his hospitality, great barbeque and cooking, his love for entertaining friends and family was a central theme in his life. His kitchen was his castle and the barstool by the island was his throne. He recycled. His pantry was organized so he could find anything he needed blindfolded. He kept his 200 or so spices in alphabetical order. He would give you the shirt off his back, if you needed it but you better really, really need it and be sure to wash it before you gave it back. He was always proud of his children
