Helen Barnard
Busby
October 11, 1932 – December 6, 2024
HELEN BARNARD BUSBY
Born Oct 11, 1932 at the end of a Great Depression
Went to heaven on December 6, 2024,
while living at Silver Creek Assisted Living, with her son Mike by her side.
She is survived by her son Mike Busby and wife Donna (whose home cooking she loved) .
She was proceeded in death by her husband George and precious daughter Cheryl.
Countless nieces and nephews are mourning the loss of our wonderful Aunt Helen.
She is sadly the last of the nine Barnard siblings.
She was quite the poker player at Silver Creek and gave them all a run for the money.
The Texas Rangers were her team and she became quite upset when she could not see their games. Her favorite color was purple.
She was the first and only high school graduate of the Barnard clan. She settled in the banking business and did really well in that profession as a senior loan officer.
Aunt Helen's great love in life was family. She married George Busby and then had Mike and Cheryl. She adored her children and they were the light of her life.
She loved family reunion and looked forward to it every year. She told me we have had reunions at the zoo, Waxahachie Park and many
other places. We used to have reunion in the summer and at Christmas. Aunt Helen and Uncle George hosted the Christmas party many times. Good food at reunion is a given but volley ball was a passion for all. The games were very spirited and sometimes rough. Aunt Helen had her wrist broken at a game once. Uncle George
Barnard was the referee and his word was law. The siblings went to Fun Valley, Co campground once or twice a year and had some exciting adventures such as Aunt Helen floating down the river after missing the beach (Jody and Jon saved her) and Uncle George trying to back his camper into his site. They told so many stories that just got bigger year after year.
Grieving is a selfish act or reaction caused by our missing loved ones so much. Since we are human go ahead and grieve a little and then remember that there is a great reunion in heaven at Aunt Helen's arrival. She had her bags packed and was ready to go. We will be a part of another reunion when we saved Christians are met in the air by Jesus and then we get to see all our loved ones who have already passed.
In the words of Aunt Helen, " Don't forget reunion.!"
