Helen
Jordan
June 16, 1932 – November 17, 2025
Helen Elaine Jordan, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed peacefully in her sleep on November 17, 2025, at the age of 93. Born on June 17, 1932, in Belfield, North Dakota, Helen grew up on her family's farm where her Ukrainian heritage and strong family traditions were woven deeply into her life. When she was 13 years old, her family, including grandparents, aunts, and uncles, moved to Portland, Oregon, where those roots remained with her, becoming stories and customs she lovingly passed down to her children and grandchildren.
Helen married the love of her life, James "Jim" Clayton Jordan, and together they shared 57 years of devotion, partnership, and faith. They raised five children, whom Helen guided with a firm hand, a loving heart, and the kind of humor and honesty her family will never forget. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Dolyniuk, her brother David Dolyniuk, her sister Melissa Paladijczuk, her husband Jim, and her son Kevin Jordan.
A devout Catholic, Helen was a longtime parishioner of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch, Texas. In her younger years, she was active in the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, the Red Hat Society, and the Tuesday Morning Ladies Rosary group at Mary Immaculate—communities in which she built cherished friendships and lived out her strong, steadfast faith. During this time, she also worked at St. John Boutique in Dallas, where she brought her sharp eye for style and warm charm to the world of luxury women's apparel.
Helen is survived by her brother, John Dolyniuk and wife Kathy; her children Mary (Ronnie), Shane (Beth), Tricia (Ted), and Hogan (Jill); her 13 grandchildren—Zack, Katie, Natalie, Ryan, Sean, Nicholas, Jake, Hank, Jordan, Maggie, Emily, Townley, and Cade; and her 10 great-grandchildren—Sophie, Hudson, Parks, Hartley, Summer, Ryles, Elle, Lillian, Shepard, and Amelia.
Known affectionately as "Hell Raisin' Helen," she left lasting impressions wherever she went. Her concise observations, humor, and unmistakable personality were trademarks of her presence. Yet beneath the wit was a boundless well of love, devotion, and compassion. Helen was her family's biggest cheerleader, encourager, and prayer warrior—always the first to celebrate, advise, or pray for those she held dear.
A 12:30 PM Rosary and 1:00 PM Memorial Mass will be held at Mary Immaculate Catholic Church on Monday, November 24, with a reception immediately following in the Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ukrainian Cultural Institute, Dickinson, ND.
