God saw you getting tiredand a cure was not to be.So He put His arms around youand whispered, Come with Me.With tearful eyes wewatched you slowly fade away.Although we loved you dearly,we would not make you stay.Well miss you here so deeply,and yet were glad to knowyoure running down golden sidewalksto others who love you so.Cecil Henderson, of Farmers Branch, Texas, passed way gently on January 30, 2015, at his residence. Cecil was born to William David Henderson and Myrtle Mooring on July 31, 1930, in Crow, Wood County, Texas. Cecil had a lifelong love of the outdoors having grown up on a farm. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, gardener and true blue Texan.Cecil left the farm with his childhood buddy, Richard McManus, upon turning 18. In Tyler, Texas, they joined the U.S. Army. This was during the Korean conflict and after service at Fort Lewis, Washington, Cecil was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska. He was given a medical discharge due to frostbite on both feet in 1953.Returning to Dallas from Fort Sam Houston he had a long career in the automotive industry primarily at W. O. Bankston Lincoln-Mercury and Friendly Chevrolet. Later, he and his brother, Bill Henderson, had a glass business on Harry Hines near the famous Mecca restaurant.. Cecils love of hunting took him all over Texas but specially on a ranch near Brady, Texas, and in the East Texas woods.Cecil is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jonette Willman Henderson, and children, Randy Henderson (Vanessa), Julie Sturdevant (Steve), Jimmy Henderson, Donna Mercier, Jeffery Henderson, and eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren.The family wishes to extend their gratefulness to CarePoint Partners and nurse Marjorie Greene. Also the VNA Hospice Care, Dr.Allstair Fyfe, and Dr. N. Thudi.A Celebration of Cecils life will be held 11:00 February 7, 2015, Valwood Park Baptist Church, 2727 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, Texas. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the DFW National Cemetery.The family request that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Valwood Park Baptist Church, 2727 Valwood Parkway, Farmers Branch, Texas, 75234 or Texas Baptist Men.Please send the family condolences on this website.
