Dorothy Lee Hester died peacefully on October 23, 2014 in Dallas at the age of 85.Dorothy was born on July 7, 1929 in Bullard, Texas to Haskell Tenery and Sudie Areta (White) Hawes. She married Golden (Goldie) Eugene Hester on October 3, 1952 in Portales New Mexico. They moved to Farmers Branch in 1969.Dorothy retired from DISD after 20+ years as an elementary school teacher. Throughout her life she was active in church working with young children, youth and senior adults. Dorothy was devoted to her family and friends, especially her grandchildren who were the light of her life. She loved sewing, crafts, and cooking. She was especially known for her delicious cream pies, and peanut brittle. Dorothy was preceded in death by her wonderful husband, Goldie. She is survived by daughter Tresha Hester of Dallas; daughter and son-in-law Leisha and Brent Mullins of College Station; and grandchildren Emily and Matthew Mullins, along with numerous nieces and nephews.Relatives and friends are welcome at Dallas North Funeral Home for Family Visitation from 4 7 pm on Sunday October 26, 2014. The funeral is scheduled for Monday October 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church Farmers Branch with interment at Hilltop Cemetery in Carrollton. Pastor Sam Underwood will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dorothy's life.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either First Baptist Church Farmers Branch or the Museum of the American G.I. in College Station, Texas.
