Bobs mother always said that he was born at her mothers farm home, in the middle of a cornfield on a sunny Saturday morning, outside the town limits of Heavener, Oklahoma. Sunshine was a lifelong variable that was important for Bob. He was an avid outdoorsman and hunter for over seventy years. He loved to bird hunt and trained his dogs to be the best possible.He was born in the early years of the depression. His parents, Winona Baker Higgins and Virgil Higgins were examples for him that applying himself, pursuing a professional education in engineering, working mindfully and intelligently, with attention to diligence, determination, and consistence would lead to success. He served in the Army during the Korean War as part of the Signal Corp. When he was discharged he returned to college, married Glenda Mays, and had three children. He pursued his engineering career in many big corporations in and around DallasTemCo, Chance Vought Aircraft, Texas Instruments, E-Systems, ResaLab, CAMSCO. In his later career he and several friends started other engineering companiesALEPH, GAMATA--which would develop products for other high tech industries. His final company, TECHNICUT, was started with his son Mark to design laser and water jet cutter technologies for industries with custom cutting needs. He was the holder of twenty-two patents for engineering developments. He enjoyed creative problem solving and thought of himself as an inventor, teacher, and process modifier.After retirement a fractured hip and multiple other health issues slowed his pace and finally ended his journey due to heart and renal failure. He relinquished his brave, courageous effort to live on Friday, January 13, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Winona and Virgil Higgins; parents-in-law, Thomas and Sally Mays; and son Robert Brian Higgins. Surviving him are his wife of 61 years, Glenda Mays Higgins; daughter, Laurie Higgins-Putz and husband Steven Putz; son, Stephen Mark Higgins and wife, Tamara Higgins; grand-daughters, Sarah E. Welsh and husband Erick Welsh; and Jennifer L. McLinko and her husband, J. C. McLinko; great grand-children, Charlie, Ethan, and Emily Welch; and Kael and Sean McLinko. He had no siblings.He was a multi-dimensional personteller of funny stories, creative, artistic, intelligent developer of many engineering feats, a very sweet and loving person who worked to keep his family intact and friends close.
