James Gwynn Howard, 74, of Dallas, Texas, passed away March 14, 2012 at his home. He was born August 23, 1937, in Shenandoah, Iowa, where he graduated from high school with honors in 1955. He attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York. During his service with the Army, he rose to the rank of Major. He was a Ranger, Paratrooper, and attended the Army Language School at the Presidio in San Francisco, CA. He was assigned to the Army Special Forces Unit. He is survived by his daughter, Kara Lynn Ott, and granddaughter, Sara, of Manhattan Beach, CA; a brother, Richard A. Howard, and nephew, Scott Howard, of Fort Wayne, IN; and a niece, Stephanie Howard of Seattle, WA. Jim worked many years at North Central Ford and considered them as part of his family. He will be buried at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, in Williams Cemetery, McKinney, Texas, next to his son, Jimmie, who passed away in 2010.
