Obituary

Richard Neil Hutson, of Dallas, Texas, passed away September 20, 2017 at the age of 89. Neil was born to Miles and Adela Hutson in New Orleans, Louisiana and was raised with his three older sisters, Louise Finke, Charlene Wilke and Mary Jane Trapolin. He attended Jesuit High School and Tulane University in New Orleans, graduating at the age of 20 with a Masters of Electrical Engineering.Neil served as a Non Commissioned Officer at the end of World War II, engineering, installing and instructing early radar systems on aircraft carriers. After his service, he became a Chief Engineer at Chance Vought Electronics developing guidance systems for the Navys Regulus Missile program. Neil began his entrepreneurial career with the first Hutson Corporation in 1964, which was a precision machine shop and optics laboratory. Future Hutson companies involved the design and manufacture of Industrial Vibratory Finishing Equipment, which finished parts of all sizes, from dental parts and silverware to engine blocks and jet turbine blades. He was the owner of several patents, as well as, the inventor of the worlds smallest pistol scope, the Hutson Handgunner.Neil was an avid sailor and boatman, racing Lightning Class boats competitively. He was also an accomplished gardener and outdoorsman, enjoying the outdoors through bird hunting and all types of fishing.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Joan Liebes Hutson, and children John Charles Hutson (Hilary), Paul Neil Hutson (Nicole), Mary Louise Suttles (Sonny) and grandchildren Zachary Suttles (age 26), Miles Hutson (age 24), Sydnie Suttles (age 22)(Robin Hanson), Jennifer Hutson (age 18), Casey Suttles (age 17), Shelley Suttles (age 16), Carter Suttles (age 9) and Cole Hutson (age 9).A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at Calvary Hill North Chapel, Calvary Hill Cemetery, 3235 Lombardy Lane, Dallas, Texas 75220. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Neils name to the Alzheimers Association at ALZ.org or the charity of your choice.Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
