Cynthia Ellen Ivins (Cindy) won her freedom from the cancer she fought for the last 3.5 years on July 12, 2016, surrounded by amazing friends in Dallas, Texas.Cindy was born on December 31, 1955, in Shreveport, LA, to Ray and Eleanor (Wiese) Ivins. Cindy grew up in California and attended Mitchell Elementary School and Atwater High School in Atwater, CA. During her adult life, she spent time living and working in various cities in California; Eugene, OR; Tulsa, OK; and Dallas, TX.In addition to working with her father in his fence business early in her career, Cindy worked for about 30 years at Master Halco (MH),serving most recently in the position of Business Operations Analyst. Cindy had a knack for uniting people, and she embraced her informal role of team builder for Master Halco. She regularly sent Hallmark cards of congratulations for work achievements and milestones as well as personal occasions, like weddings, births, and birthdays, even to employees she never met. As the company grew, Cindy was always conscious of how changes were impacting employees, and she did not hesitate to speak truth to power and offer suggestions on how to manage and improve the change process. The company supported "Team Cindy" and held "FIGHT LIKE A GIRL" Fridays to help her get through challenging rounds of cancer treatment. In 2015, she wasnominated to receive the prestigious Master Halco Grand Masters Award acknowledging her significant contributions in the conversion and implementation of a new business system and for her positive impact on the reputation of Master Halco through her fundraising for the American Cancer Society.Cindy crafted handmade blankets and quilts to mark special occasions in the lives of her family and friends. She celebrated every holiday with her crafting talents, decorating cupcakes or making novelties to give to her co-workers and friends.Shelby was Cindys best friend (Maltese dog) for over 15 years until January, 2013, when she died shortly after Cindy's cancer diagnosis. For many years, Shelby was included on and often the subject of Cindy's Christmas letters.
