James Kenneth Anderson Sr. Also known as "Big Jim" or "Pops" age 83 passed away on February 16, 2026 at Wylie Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wylie, Texas.
Born on June 3, 1942 in St. Charles Illinois. He lived a life marked by service and sociability.
James was the beloved son of Kenneth and Helen Anderson. He grew up in Illinois alongside his sister Linnea Charles. From an early age, James demonstrated a strong sense of duty and camaraderie.
Answering the call to serve his country, James enlisted in the United States Army and served from August of 1966 to March of 1968. James fought in the Vietnam War. His military service was a source of pride for him and for those who knew him. During his service, James received a Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal and an Air Medal. James flew helicopters for refueling methods and helicopters that would pick up wounded brothern. James was also a proud life member of both American Legion and Veterans Of Foreign Wars (VFW) maintaining active involvement with posts from Illinois to Texas.
He was proceeded in death by his father Kenneth Anderson, mother Helen Anderson, sister Linnea Charles, wife Trude Anderson, grandson Edwin Anderson and daughter in law Selena Anderson.
He is survived by his oldest son Ronald James Hanko, son James Kenneth Anderson Jr., daughter Tamara Anderson Reed, son in law Thomas Reed, grandson Travell Reed, lifelong brother and best friend Duane Lidel, Tanya Waslikowski who is like another daughter to him.
James also had a deep fondness for sweet snacks - a simple pleasure that brought him joy throughout the years. Enjoying quiet moments with family, these small delights were part of what made time spent with him so memorable.
A graveside military ceremony will be held to honor James life and legacy. The ceremony will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. located at the Dallas National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy Dallas, Texas 75211.
Following the ceremony family and friends are invited to gather for lunch at Chilli's Restaurant located at 1610 Cockrell Hill Rd. Dallas, Texas 75211
