James Hammons Harrell, born January 29, 1939 in Blanchard, OK, passed away July 24, 2024 after suffering a stroke in January from which he could not recover. Predeceased by his son, Doug, he leaves his loving wife of 25 years, Peggy, son Cody and partner Gary, Grandson Chase, wife Vanessa, 2 great granddaughters, Skyler and Micah, grandson Zack, stepdaughters Kelley, Kimberly, and Krista and their families, stepsons Rick, Ward, and Brad and their families, and many dear friends who have become extended family.

James was raised in Lubbock, Texas and retained cherished memories of his friends and classmates and his years at Texas Tech. There, he began his career as a broker of life and health insurance from which he never completely retired. There, his love for old cars, particularly Fords and, more particularly early Ford V8s, blossomed. He always had a "project car" in the works.

He moved his young family to the Dallas area in 1968 and served as president of the local Red Raiders Club and, also, the newly formed Lone Star Early Ford V8 Club. His interests were many: cooking, gardening (he grew the MOST beautiful irises), dancing, collecting (automobilia, antiques, books…even a rusty old screw was something to be cherished). He loved to GO: other countries, museums, swap meets, flea markets, estate sales, historical markers along the highway. He was a story teller, although,

in later years, the retelling of oft told tales evoked a lot of groans from family and friends (we'll always remember Rebel) and he never met a stranger.

Rest in peace, Dear James. We'll remember you with much love. Guns Up!!!
