James (Jay) Elliott McKee
March 22, 1967 - July 16, 2025
Jay is survived by his mother, Dorothy (Dottie) McKee, father, Frank McKee, brother, Darren McKee, and his wife, Debbie. He's also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Jay was born in Dallas, Texas, at Baylor Hospital.
He attended St. Johns Episcopal School, Dan D. Rogers Elementary, Janie Stark Elementary, Turner High School, Stephen F. Austin State University, and North Texas State University. Now known as UNT.
Jay was in a heavy metal band called Black Room. They performed in several clubs in Dallas, Austin, Killeen, and New Orleans in the early to mid-1990s. He had many jobs. He laid fiber optics for a while, worked for IBM for a short time, United Airlines Silver Wings until 9/11, and as a server in fine dining restaurants in Dallas and Atlanta.
Jay was a good friend to those he loved and a loving son and brother. As one who knew him well said, "So quick, so funny—always the sharpest wit in the room".
There will be a celebration of Jay's Life at Locals Lounge, 13050 Bee St., Ste 100, Farmers Branch, TX on July 26, 2025 from 2 until 4 pm.
