Obituary

Joe Angel Sanchez, 50, passed away on November 1, 2024, in Royse City, TX. Born on September 11, 1974, in San Antonio, TX, Joe's life was characterized by his kindness, loyalty, and passion. He lived up to his name, because he was truly an angel on earth. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.

Joe is survived by his wife, Meagan; sons, Darien, Ruben, Jonathan; daughters Scarlet, Madeline, and Deandra; father, Santiago Sanchez; and his brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy and Chello Sanchez, and Rocky and Halima Sanchez. He was a cherished uncle and great uncle to 29 nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Trinidad "Connie" Martha Salinas Sanchez, and his big sister, Debbie Cueller.

Joe graduated from Burbank High School and pursued a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Texas in San Antonio. He returned to his alma mater to teach Social Studies and coach football and baseball for 12 years, and later spent 2 years at Bandera High School. His career touched the lives of countless students, athletes, and colleagues.

His dedication to coaching extended from professional fields to his children's sports. Joe was their first coach in every sport they wanted to play and even started a baseball and softball organization and was the head coach of the baseball team. His children always knew they could count on him to be in the stands cheering them on or standing at the finish line during cross country and track meets. He also loved watching his nieces and nephews play.

A devoted sports fan, Joe's love for football and baseball was unparalleled. He was a huge supporter of UTSA (Bird's Up!), Texas (Hook 'Em), Dallas Cowboys, and the Texas Rangers. Joe was so happy to witness their World Series win.

Even more than a dad, son, brother, uncle, and devoted sports fan, he was a devoted husband. He met his wife later in life, at the age of 40, and they shared unconditional love and laughter for almost a decade.

Joe was a genuine human being. He loved so deeply, and made sure to let his loved ones know how much they meant to him, every single day. Joe's life was a testament to his character and values, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
