Obituary

John (Juan) Rogelio Garcia, 73, of Carrollton, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, surrounded by his family.

John was born on August 3, 1952, in Mission, Texas, and grew up in Alvarado. He was the son of the late Maria Rodriguez Garcia and Antonio Garcia. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1972 to 1974. After completing basic training, he was stationed in Germany, where he served in Office Services and was awarded the Medal of Excellence for his outstanding performance.

Following his military service, John began a career as a flight attendant with Braniff Airlines, based out of DFW International Airport. It was during his time at Braniff that he met the love of his life, Michelle, whom he married in 1982. They recently celebrated 43 years of marriage.

John later joined Dallas Fire-Rescue as a firefighter and paramedic, dedicating 30 years of service to the department, primarily at Station 41, located at Preston and Royal Lane. He retired in 2013 and was known throughout his career for his commitment and compassion toward those he served.

Beyond his professional life, John generously shared his time and talents with friends and family. He was always willing to lend a hand with home projects, whether painting a room, hanging light fixtures, or tackling a task, and his kindness and practical skills made him someone everyone could rely on.

A devout Catholic, John was a longtime parishioner of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church in Farmers Branch, where he was active in the Christ Renews His Parish (CRHP) ministry. His faith played a central role in his life, and he found great joy and fellowship with his CRHP brothers.

John is survived by his loving wife, Michelle Miller Garcia of Carrollton; his daughter, Laura Dizien and her husband Brandon of Carrollton; and three beloved grandchildren: Richard, Mary Helen, and Miller. He is also survived by his siblings: Tony (Roxann), Joe, Maria, and Lori, as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Antonio Garcia; his brother, Leonardo; his father- and mother-in-law, Mary Helen and Richard Miller; and his brother-in-law, Steven.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the dedicated and compassionate ER and ICU physicians, nurses, and staff at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Plano for providing two weeks of exceptional care and support.
