Moore
November 30, 1942 – October 17, 2024
Jon Raymond Moore
11-30-1942 to 10-17-2024
Jon Moore of Carrollton, Texas, passed away on October 17, 2024, in his sleep at the age of 81 after a short illness. Jon was born in Gladwin, Michigan, on November 30, 1942, to Lindy and Vicky Moore. At 16, Jon moved with his family to Colorado City, Texas, where he played basketball and graduated from High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Mary Frances Mitchell, and they moved to Lubbock, Texas, where they had 2 sons, Mark and Matt Moore. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Business Degree, and they moved to Houston, Texas, to pursue a career in the insurance industry. Jon and Mary Frances divorced after 7 years of marriage.
Later in life, Jon met Shirley Raines, and they enjoyed a special relationship for over 25 years. They decided to go their separate ways but always remained good friends.
During his career, Jon worked for several insurance companies. He was an Insurance Adjuster for Liberty Mutual and then worked for Highlands Insurance Company as a Resident Assistant Vice President. He finally retired with Lowry Claim Service in Dallas, Texas.
Jon was proud of his two sons and enjoyed watching them grow up and spend time with them hunting and boating throughout the years. In his younger years, Jon enjoyed activities such as bowling and tennis and won many tournaments. He had a strong passion for cars, motorcycles, and boats, and he was always looking to buy, sell, or trade. It was the "thrill of the deal" that gave him joy. He spent many weekends on Lake Lewisville, where he kept a boat called "Moore Fun" for over 30 years. He was a great storyteller and the life of any party that he attended. Over the years, he made many friends at the lake and had a lot of great stories that went with him to his grave.
Jon was preceded in death by his parents, Lindy and Vicky Moore of Colorado City, TX; two brothers, Don Moore of Gladwin, MI, and Ron Moore of Kemp, TX; a nephew, Donnie Moore of Ranger, TX, and a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Partin of Midland TX. He is survived by his two sons, Mark and wife Michelle Moore of Lubbock, TX, and Matt and wife Jacki Moore of Celina, TX, and four grandchildren, Blain Moore of Celina, TX; Taylor Moore of Frisco, TX, Kimberly and husband Sam Partin of Midland TX, and Jay Allen of Lubbock TX. A sister-in-law also survives him, Diane Moore of Kemp, TX, and two nieces, Lori Moore Ross of Lake Dallas, TX, and Chrissy and husband David Jernnigan of Dallas, TX, and several great and great great nieces and nephews.
