Jose "Joe" Reinaldo
Rosales
July 18, 1972 – May 4, 2026
Jose Reinaldo Rosales, known commonly "Joe Ray", "Big Joe", or "Shut up Joe" was born in Dallas, Texas on July 18, 1972 to Ernest and Elvira Rosales. Born and raised in East Dallas, Joe roamed the halls of Williams Lipscomb Elementary, McDonald Middle School and was a loud and proud 1990 graduate of Skyline High School.
Joe started working immediately after high school and while he had many jobs throughout his lifetime, the job he loved and loved to talk about many years following was as head bouncer at Tejano Rodeo. It was the height of the Tejano scene, and he was right in the thick of things keeping the peace and providing security to the biggest acts of the day including La Tropa F, Culturas and David Lee Garza y Los Musicales. In fact he designed a tattoo on his arm representing "Cuatro Caminos" based on their version of that song. But his most prized responsibility was providing security to Selena herself when she took the stage.
From early on, he became a huge fan of Dallas sports. His Dallas Cowboys brought him many days of joy during the 80's and 90's. Watching the Dallas Mavericks win a championship brought him extreme happiness after many years of bad basketball in Dallas. Finally, when the Texas Rangers won a championship, it ended lifelong suffering as well.
Joe made many friends in his lifetime. He was quick to share stories of shared experiences with friends and would often talk about how you two came to be friends. Always one for a good time, he truly cherished the simple things in life such as firing up a Weber grill, grilling a steak or country style ribs and then turning up the music and enjoying a cold beer…many many cold beers…
He is preceded in death by his loving father Ernest Rosales Sr and his sainted mother Elvira Rosales. He is survived by his sister Joann Rosales of Forney, Tx, his eldest brother Robert Rosales (and wife Fatima) from San Antonio, his older brother Ernest Rosales (and wife Anna) of Dallas, Texas, his older brother James Rosales (and wife Kelly) of Dallas, Texas. He is survived by nieces and nephews spread throughout Texas. He leaves behind many friends and former associates that all have a story to tell for sure.
