Judith
Newell
October 24, 1934 – April 16, 2026
Judith Lee (Tuttle) Newell was born to Robert Campbell and Elizabeth Mae Tuttle in Mattoon, Illinois on October 24, 1934. She died on April 16, 2026. She attended Eastern Illinois University and obtained an associate's degree in laboratory technology. In her freshman year at EIU, she met Gary Warren Newell, and they married on August 28, 1955. They resided in Illinois until 1971 when they moved to Dallas, Texas.
Judy was blessed with a large family of four daughters, Beth, Allison, Amy and Sara and was a homemaker for most of her life. She was an avid tennis player, golfer, sports watching enthusiast, mahjong player, as well as a knitter, needle pointer, embroiderer and an amazing quilter. After the girls left for college, she worked at T Bar M Tennis Club and then Katherine S. Henry, MD as Office Manager.
In 1996, Gary and Judy moved to Granbury, Texas and were active members of Lakeside Baptist Church. They served on the Bereavement Committee for many years. They still came back to Dallas every chance they could to attend the grandchildren's many school events.
In August of 2025, Gary and Judy moved back to the Dallas area to be near all their family members. Her legacy includes her 4 daughters, their husbands, 10 grandchildren and their spouses and 18 (plus 3 due this year) great-grandchildren; totaling 50 by year's end! These were the joys of her life.
She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Gary W. Newell; her sister Susan A. (Tuttle) Calhoun; her daughters, Beth (Kent) Christensen, Allison (Jalil) Amine, Amy (Hardy) Nix, Sara (Mike) Gurley; their children and grandchildren; and 2 nieces; Carolyn Asher and Alisa Gattis.
