Obituary

With profound sorrow and deep gratitude for a life that brought strength, laughter, and unwavering love to so many, we announce the passing of Kathleen Dots Scott, 85 of Carrollton, Texas, who left us on April 10th, 2026.

Kathleen, known affectionately as Dots, was truly one of a kind. Bold, spirited, and unapologetically herself, she never minced words, and you always knew exactly where you stood with her. Yet behind the fiery spark was a heart of pure gold.

She went above and beyond for her family and friends in every way imaginable. In countless seasons of life, she was the glue that held everyone together ~the steady presence, the relentless protector, and the one who kept every connection strong~.

Her love was fierce, loyal, and consistent, and her impact will be felt for generations.

Kathleen was born on December 24, 1940, in Arouca, Trinidad, West Indies, to Emelda and John Devenish.

She trained as a licensed practical nurse, carrying that same compassion and care into every part of her life.

Professionally, Kathleen was known for her loyalty, dedication, and exceptional work ethic. She worked as a billing specialist for Xerox/GE for 42 years, earning deep respect through her consistency, intelligence, and unwavering commitment.

Kathleen shared a devoted 59-year marriage with her beloved husband Arnim Irving Scott, who preceded her in death. A dedicated member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, her faith was an anchor through out her life.

She poured her love into creating beauty and joy around her and expressed her creativity through cooking, ceramics, macrame and gardening… she was an avid plant lover.

Kathleen was an extraordinary cook and baker who showed love through food and had a special gift for bringing people together. She enjoyed hosting parties and was the heart behind countless gatherings.

She also found joy in planning vacations and traveling the world with her husband, family, and friends, creating cherished memories wherever she went.

Kathleen is survived by her children, Arlene Cheray Scott and Charlene Michelle Scott; her grandson, Marcus Ahmad Mousavi; her siblings, Trevor Devenish, Barry Devenish, Antoinette Dalrymple, Althea Devenish, Anthony Devenish, Dexter Devenish, and Gareth Devenish; the Cazabons; her in-laws, Rawle and Jeanette Scott; John and Mae Keary; Alan and Janet Callender; Nigel Scott; and Alban Scott and Sandra Scott; and her nephews by marriage, Duane Scott, Omar Scott, Rion Scott, Jaemeel Scott, and Tariq Scott.

Kathleen is also survived by a large circle of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who loved her deeply, including Herman Wanza, Sean Edwards, Dwayne Devenish, Cherry Ann Devenish, Kathy Ann Devenish, Tyrone Devenish, Sasha Dixon, Solange Devenish, Brensley Ann Devenish, Karlene Devenish, Brensley Devenish, Kevin Devenish, Belinda Devenish, Devon Dalrymple, Johnny Devenish, Diandra (Dalrymple) Gordon, Cherrisse Dalrymple, Brittany Devenish, Toya Devenish, Brandon Devenish, Desiree Devenish, and Jada Devenish, and several great-nieces and great-nephews whose names may not all be listed but are held dearly in the family's heart.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, John Devenish and Emelda Devenish; her siblings, Robert Devenish and Brensley Devenish; her sister-in-law, Monica Scott; and her husband, Arnim Irving Scott.
