Jewel Allen Lawson, 105 years old, entered heaven on November 29, 2012. Born August 5, 1907, in Melbourne, Arkansas, she survived typhoid as an infant, which claimed her mother and sister. She moved to Dallas in 1920, graduating from Forest Ave. On August 3, 1929, she married Archie Lawson and they had one child, David. Jewel worked for many yearsfor Dr. Arvil Haley. She became a member of Cliff Temple Baptist in 1932, teaching her beloved "16 year old class" and working with Oak Cliff Churches. She loved playing bridge and dominoes until her eyesight failed. She taught us how to live dignified, contented and couragous lives. Jewel was predeceased by Arch and David; sisters, Mary, Virgie and Anna Mae; and great-granson, Kyle. She is survived by daughter-in-law, Patsy; grandchildren, Kent and Mina Lawson and Susan and David Smith; great-grandhildren, Kevin (Jackie), Kurt (Ginger), and Kirby (Carie) Lawson and Katie and Luke Smith; great-great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Sophie, Jack and Carter.Family Graveside Service at Laurel Land Cemetery at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012. Memorial Service following at 2:30 p.m. at Grace Presbyterian Village, 550 E. Ann Arbor, Dallas, TX 75216. In lieu of flowers, make donations to the GPV Caring Fund or Faith Hospice.
