Saul Libowski of Farmers Branch passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas. He was 89 years old.Saul was born in Tilsit, Germany on March 18, 1923 to his parents, Moritz and Helena (Guttman) Libowski.Saul Libowski came to America in 1935 at the age of 12 from Germany to escape the persecution of Jews. One of his younger sisters, Betty, came to America in 1936. Sadly enough he lost his mother and 3 sibilings in the concentration camps. He served in the army in WWII in the South Pacific. He was in the 81st Infantry Division, "The Wildcats".One of his best days was while he was going to electronics school in Kansas City, Missouri. While walking to attend a movie he passed by the Jewish Community Center and saw a young man. The young man asked him if he wanted some free food, he said that would be a great idea, so the young man said, why don't you go upstairs and crash the engagement party in progress. He was dressed in only slacks and a T-shirt while others were in suits and ties. He saw a young lady there who said it was her engagement party, this young lady had a cousin from Omaha that she wanted him to meet. He meet this lady, and as the old saying goes, "The rest is history". They fell in love and got married a year and a half later in Omaha, Nebraska. They set up residencey in Omaha, Nebraska for 47 years. After his wife, Roselle Clayman Libowski, died he moved to Corpus Christi, Texas to live with his son and daughter-in-law. He became very active in the senior center and was elected president and secretary of 2 AARP chapters in Corpus Christi. 4 years later he moved to Dallas to live with his daughter, Judy. He made many friends, playing Bingo on Fridays mornings at a McDonalds in Carrollton, Texas. He enjoyed the Monday Night Dances at the Senior Center in Farmers Branch. Basically he never met a stranger. He would meet people then the next thing you know they would be over for dinner. Dad was a Shriner with the Peters Colony Shrine Club, in Lewisville, Texas. He began entertaining people with his magic tricks from the time he was in the army and for decades after that. He was proud to be a Jew and very proud to be an American.He is survived by his daughter, Judy Pritchard of Farmers Branch, Texas; son, Jeff Libowski and wife, Loring of Corpus Christi, Texas; son-in-law, Allen Pritchard and wife, Lynne of Ardmore, Oklahoma and 2 grand daughters, Sarah Pritchard of Farmers Branch, Texas and Molly Libowski of Corpus Christi, TexasGraveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 18, 2012, promptly at 9:30 am at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.A Celebration of Saul's life will be held on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Donations may be made in Saul's memory to Masonic Home, 1300 Avenue D, Plattsmouth, NE 68048.Please send the family condolences and sign the guest book on this site.
