Obituary

Richard Adams Lloyd, 69, of Princeton, Texas, passed away after a long and courageous battle with a chronic medical condition on February 13, 2019, in Dallas, Texas.Richard was born on August 24, 1949 in Atlanta, Georgia, to Wright Elliott Lloyd and Frances Terrell (Adams) Lloyd. He grew up in Marietta, Georgia with his parents and three brothers, Michael, John, and Phillip. Richard graduated from Wheeler High School in 1967. He attended Kennesaw Junior College from 1967-1968. In January of 1968, he enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a Missile Control Communications Systems Repair Specialist from 1968 to 1974. While Stationed in North Dakota, he met and married Kandace Ann Blaufuss on July 11, 1970. While stationed in California, Richard attended Allen Hancock College in Santa Maria from 1971-1973. Richard and Kandace had two sons at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, Chad Wright, in 1971, and Kevin Richard, in 1974. Richard worked in sales most of his adult life and his hobbies included boating, fishing, and golf, and he obtained his pilots license just for fun in 1980. Both of his sons followed in his footsteps by serving in the Armed Forces, both in the Unites States Navy. Richard has always been a proud veteran and has supported organizations such as the Wounded Warrior Project, Paralyzed Veterans of America, United States Navy Memorial, National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, United States Deputy Sheriffs Association, and many others, right up to his last days.Richard was preceded in death by his father, Wright, his mother, Fran, and brothers, John and Michael.He is survived by the mother of his sons and the love of his life, Kandace Ann, son and daughter-in-law, Chad and Vickie Lloyd of Rockwall, Texas, son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Katrina Lloyd of Wylie, Texas, brother and sister-in-law, Phillip and Brenda Lloyd of South Bend, Indiana, niece, Terri Lloyd, and nephews Phillip Lloyd and Nicholas Lloyd. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Cole, Mackenzie, Aiden, Brock, Lillian, Hannah, and Caughner, and one great grandson, Noah.A graveside service will be held on March 20, 2019 at 2:00 pm at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
