Louis
Castaneda
August 1, 1929 – February 17, 2026
Louis Castaneda, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away at the age of 96, surrounded by the love of his family. His quiet strength, kindness, and deep devotion to those he loved will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Louis Castaneda is survived by his son, Ruben Castaneda, and Ruben's wife Peggy. He was a proud grandfather to Roland Castaneda and his wife Liz, Anthony Castaneda and his wife Ashley, and Tonya Castaneda and her husband, Gary and Michael Castaneda.
He was blessed with many great-grandchildren, including great-grandsons and great-granddaughters, who carry forward his name and legacy:
• Justice Avery Castaneda
• Colton Lee Thornburgh
• Evan Gage Thornburgh
• Tristan Nathaniel Thornburgh
• Curtis Castaneda
• Brandon Castaneda
• Evelyn Castaneda
• Dean Castaneda
• Cain Baggett
• Tori Sanchez
Louis Castaneda is also survived by his brothers
• Joe Blanco
• Lupe Marciel
• Dorso Marciel
• Sal Mesa
He was preceded in death by his loving wife Anita Castaneda, his brother Daniel Castaneda, and his sisters Jovita Castaneda, Jesusutia Benavidez, and Juanita Arredondo, as well as his grandson Shane Castaneda. Though they have gone before him, we take comfort in knowing they are now reunited.
To his family, he was a source of wisdom, humor, and unconditional love. His home was always open, and his heart was always full—especially when it came to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never met a stranger and loved to say he would "feast on people," making sure everyone he met walked away with a smile on their face. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine for two years, carrying that same discipline and sense of duty into every area of his life. A deeply religious man, he faithfully served as an usher at Covenant Church for many years and was part of the prison ministry team, touching countless lives with his compassion and steady presence. He was also a skilled cabinet maker and woodworker who lived by the motto "do things right the first time," a standard he applied both to his craft and to the way he cared for his family. The lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the example he set will live on in each generation that follows.
A life as meaningful as his cannot be summed up in words alone, but those who knew him will remember:
• His deep love and pride for his family
• His steady presence in both good times and hard times
• The way he made everyone feel welcome and cared for
A memorial service will be held at Covenant Church at 2644 E Trinity Mills Road, Carrollton, TX 75006, in the small chapel to the left if you are looking at the main chapel. The memorial service will start at 11 AM on Tuesday the 24th. If you choose to send flowers, please ask that they be delivered no later than 9 AM.
While our hearts are heavy with grief, we are grateful for the years we were given with him and for the legacy of love he leaves behind.
"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day."
May Louis Castaneda rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
