Martin Cordell LyonsJune 30, 1964-November 6, 2013Martin Cordell Marty Lyons, age 49, of New York City, New York, died suddenly, Wednesday, November 6, 2013 in Dallas, Texas.Martin Cordell Marty or Cord Lyons was born to Clarence and Alma (Beaman) Lyons on June 30, 1964 in New York City, New York. The youngest of five siblings, Marty graduated from high school at the age of 16. Marty had a strong faith and was extremely knowledgeable in the Bible and would often debate with others concerning their knowledge of the Word. Two of Martys greatest achievements were graduating from the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science in Economics and as well as receiving his mortgage brokers license. Upon graduating, Marty pursued a career as a financial analyst working for Ameritrade, a job which he loved.Marty had a host of hobbies and interest including: Collecting baseball cards, coins and comic books. He was a devout New York Yankees fan and loved to play baseball. He loved cooking and would often cook meals for his family and friends. He also enjoyed helping anyone in need.Marty will best be remembered for his outgoing personality. He always wore a smile and always had the ability to make others laugh, either at themselves, some story he was telling, or some prank he had pulled. He lived life to the fullest.Marty is preceded in death by his father Clarence, mother Alma, and two sisters Doretha (Lyons) Powell and Clara Roberta Lyons. Left to cherish his memory are: his brother Clarence Marshall Lyons and wife Patricia, sister Lori (Lyons) Dantley and husband Kevin, sister-in-law Deborah Hart Lyons, a host of nieces and nephews (Jonnee, Lisa, Nicki, Michelle, Bakari, Lauressa, Calvin, Kelly, Keri and Bryce), and a host of great nieces and nephews.Martin Cordell Lyons was loved by his family and friends and will be greatly missed.A memorial service for Martin will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Please send family condolences and sign the guestbook on this website.
