Obituary

Willie Maple Maddox passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 17, 2011 in Irving, Texas. Born Willie Maple Strickland, November 20, 1917 in Cumby, Texas to parents Oscar and Mary Ellen Strickland. Married Elton Mae Maddox on June 5th, 1936 at The First Baptist Church of Oak Cliff.Maple is survived by sons, Michael D. Maddox of Dallas, Thurman David Maddox and wife Judy Smith Maddox of Springtown, Texas and daughter Linda Diane Maddox Rogan and spouse, Michael Ray Rogan of Farmers Branch, Texas; grandchildren, Michael Charles Rogan, Bryan Maddox, Alan Craig Rogan, Teresa Maddox Baker; great grandchildren, Taylor Ann Baker, Danielle Maddox, Mackenzie Grace Baker, Riley Grace Rogan and Mason Chael Rogan. Preceded in death by husband, Elton Maddox and son Clinton D. Maddox.Maple spent her adult years living in Dallas near White Rock Lake, attended Lake Highland Baptist Church and worked at Lake Highlands Kindergarten and Day Care Center. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, gardening and her many friends, including her good friend and neighbor, Wanda Baker.Mother was a strong, devout private woman and she will be greatly missed.Visitation is Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 10:30am in the Brooks Family Chapel at the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Tx 75234. Funeral Services will begin immediately following the visitation at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Cemetery, 4811 Samuell Blvd., Dallas, Tx 75228.
