Obituary

Madelyn was born on July 10, 1956, in Fort Ord, California, to retired CSM Leonides Ramos Vasquez and Marta Ramos, both originally from Puerto Rico. She was the second child in a loving family that included her four siblings: Lillian (Lillye), Orlando (Orly), Melvin (Ricky), and Leonides (Lenny). Her father's Army career meant the family moved frequently, living in California, Washington, Texas, North Carolina, Puerto Rico, and four tours in Germany.

Madelyn thrived in her education and activities. She attended various schools and was known for her enthusiasm for English and science. Madelyn's childhood was enriched by her involvement in cheerleading, both with the American Youth Association of Cheerleaders in Hanau, Germany, and later as a junior varsity cheerleader at Frankfurt High School.

After graduating from Killeen High School in 1974, Madelyn attended Central Texas College, where she earned an associate degree in applied science and became a registered nurse (RN) in 1977. She enjoyed working at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas. Her dedication to nursing was a testament to her caring nature and commitment to helping others.

In early 1980, Madelyn met Lt. Col. John J. Angell, and they married on June 5, 1980. Together, they experienced the adventures of Army life, living in Virginia, New Jersey, and spending five years in Europe. In 1985, they welcomed their beloved child, Alexis Leigh Angell. While Madelyn and John parted ways, Madelyn continued to provide a loving home for her daughter.

Madelyn's life was marked by her unwavering dedication to her family, her faith, and her community. Madelyn moved in with her parents and helped care for them, providing support and love during their later years with the same dedication and compassion that defined her nursing career. For over 20 years, she found joy in her second career working in retail, particularly in the jewelry department, where she cherished helping customers choose engagement rings, graduation rings, and other special gifts for their loved ones.

She is survived by her daughter, Alexis, and her son-in-law, Joseph Stansel Bogen; her siblings, Lillye, Rick, and Lenny; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members who will miss her dearly. Madelyn will be remembered for her generous spirit, always delighting in giving fun gifts at Christmas and staying connected with family through frequent phone calls and heartfelt cards and notes that touched the lives of everyone she knew.

She will be greatly missed.
