Obituary

Norman Harper Malone was born in Kismet, Kansas on September 13, 1935 in the front bedroom of parents home, Mildred C. and G. Ira Malone. He attended grade school at Skelly School, Moore County, Texas and Dumas High School in Dumas, Texas. He attended from 1953-1955 Kansas State University and Oklahoma State University in 1955 graduating in 1958 with a degree in Landscape Architecture. He served his country in the United States Army in Europe in 3rd Infantry Division from 1958 to 1960, the Army Reserves in Tulsa, Oklahoma as a Staff Sgt from 1960 to 1964.Normans professional career started with Dale L. Toedt and Associates in Tulsa, Oklahoma from 1960-1967; the United States Forest Service serving in various capacities on 3 National Forest of the Intermountain West, and a Regional Office assignment in Ogden, Utah, with a final assignment as the Assistant Superintendent, Planning and Design the Sawtooth National Recreation Area in Ketchum, Idaho from 1967 thru 1975.He was a business owner-operator of Intermountain Landscape Company and Tree Farms, and Sun Valley Appaloosas all of Hailey, Idaho from 1975 to 1992; Kimberly Nurseries, Supervisory Landscape Architect and Sales for Idaho-Utah-Nevada from 1992 until 1995; Lambert Landscape Company in Dallas, Texas, Senior Landscape Architect, Design Studio leader from 1995 until 2000; Garden Design Landscape of Dallas, Senior Landscape Architect from 2000 until 2003 then went into private practice and consultant in 2003 until his passing.He was a Professional Licensure, Landscape Architect in the states of Idaho, Nevada, Utah and Montana.Norman was married to Greta Jane Miller of Hailey, Idaho and survived by 4 sons, Jay P. Malone of Seattle, Washington; Donald J. Malone of Bellevue, Idaho; David E. Malone of Salt Lake, Utah; and Michael P. Malone of Meridian, Idaho; and 2 grandsons Lukas T. Malone and Duncan R. Malone both of Olympia, Washington.Visitation will be Monday, January 27, 2014 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with the Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 am all in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Interment with Military Honors will follow at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211at 1:00 pm.In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House.Please send family condolences and sign the guestbook on this website.
