Maureen E. Tyrer McKee passed away on Tuesday August 5 2025, peacefully at home surrounded by her family and love.
Maureen Tyrer McKee was born in Jersey City , New Jersey and raised in Bayonne alongside her brother Thomas (Tommy) Tyrer by their parents, George and Elizabeth Tyrer.
After finishing grade school at the Academy of St. Aloysius all girls academy. She attended Jersey City State College, graduated Cum Laude with her degree in accounting.
Maureen then met the love of her life on a blind date and soon after married him, Morris Wayne McKee. Morris and Maureen made the leap from her hometown to Texas. She always said that she was a Texan by sacrifice, she had to marry Morris to get here.
Maureen was a fierce and protective mother and loving wife. Before she became Nana, Maureen loved to dance and be a positive pillar in her community, and her church. Maureen was an active member of the Irving JayCees helping to direct and organize community and charity events. Morris and Maureen were active Board member of the Las Colinas Symphony in Irving Texas before his death. Morris and Maureen also helped to found St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic church 40plus years ago and remain parishioners.
Maureen led by her actions and always had a hug or a word of wisdom for everyone. She was not only a Nana to her grandchildren and great grandchildren but she was everyones' Nana.
She was a Beautiful, Intelligent ,Talented, Caring Human. That is Nanas joke, if you know you know.
Maureen always did what was right even when it was hard to do. She stood up for those who could not stand up for themselves, she fed those who were hungry, sheltered others from the hardships they could not face alone.
Maureen was preceded in death by her parents George and Elizabeth Tyrer, her brother Thomas Tyrer, her loving husband of 48 years Morris W. McKee and her grandchildren Jonathan and Melissa McKee.
Maureen is survived by her son Michael McKee (wife) Dania McKee his children Jason McKee, Megan Watland(husband) Casey Watland and their children, Maureens great grandchildren Jayden and Noah Watland.Kelvin McKee and Michelle McKee.
Maureens daughter Kathleen McKee-Kelly (husband) Timothy Kelly and their children Blair Kelly Darby Kelly and Reily Kelly.
Mom, Nana, Maureen Elizabeth Tyrer-McKee was one bad-ass lady who lived honestly and Godly, and especially lived as an example and leader to all who knew her and met her that they could model their lives and love after.
