Obituary

Bob Morris McCutchen of Shamrock, Texas passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2016 at the age of 90.Bob and his twin sister, Gladys Doris were born July 11, 1925 near Austin Texas to Robert Henry and Aerie Savannah Powell McCutchen. Bob had 7 older brothers and an older sister (Albert Raymond, Zelma Helma Morse, Arthur Vernon, William Bailey, Ellis Bain,Murland Johnson, Norman Glen, Eldridge Ardell) whom he respected and emulated and one younger sister, Melba Lorraine Parker, whom he adored. For the past several years, he has been the sole surviving member of that great generation of McCutchens. Gladys Doris died as an infant and even as a young child Bobby learned how to be a listener and a consoler. His mother recognized special musical gifting in Bob (not unique in this great clan of McCutchens) and would sneak down one of the brothers guitars for Bob to play with. Bob became such an accomplished guitarist that he gave guitar lessons to fund his way thru college. The McCutchens were God fearing people and from childhood Bob knew God and devoted his life to sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ to others. He began traveling, singing and speaking with his brothers at age 14 years and soon was ministering on his own. He furthered his education and graduated from Southwestern Assemblies of God College with a Bachelor Degree and completed his Master of Divinity degree at Texas Christian University Brite Divinity Seminary. He taught at North Central Assemblies of God University in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He traveled across the country preaching and ministering in churches and meetings for over 75 years. Over the last ten years of his life, after marrying Doris, Bob entered a new phase of ministry that of pastor but was still an evangelist at heart. Bob was a man of relationships. His ministry style is known for his sensitivity to the leading of the Spirit. Many testify to the anointing of God upon his life and ministry as evidenced by signs and wonders that only God performs --- healings, deliverances, infillings of the Holy Spirit, etc. Bob was indeed a yielded vessel that God used according to his purpose.Bob was married to his first wife, Mary Elizabeth Smith, until her death in 2003. He and Mary Doris Fisher Barnard met on January 1, 2006 when he came to preach a New Years Sunday evening service for the small church that Sis. Barnard was pastoring at the time (following her husband Robert Barnards death in 2003) in Dimmitt Texas. They discovered as 78 year old widow and 80 year old widower that they had a lot in common, including the fact they both were planning to attend the Prayer and Bible conference the following week. Upon further conversation that next week, they discovered they both had a passion for Jesus, ministry, people, music, travel and for each other. They were married 2 months later and were to celebrate their 10th anniversary together the day after Bobs home going.Bob is survived by his best friend, love and wife, Mary Doris McCutchen of Shamrock, Texas; Step children Darin and Darla Kincaid of Coppell, Texas and Ron and Kristi Barnard of Wichita Falls, Texas; Grandchildren Devon and Stephanie Kincaid, Dana Kincaid, Darci Kincaid, Carson Barnard and Mackenzie Barnard; Great-grandchildren Aubriella Kincaid and Ethan Kincaid. He is also survived by nephews and nieces Joyce Ruth Morse Young, Sue Ann Boitnett, Arthur Vernon (Macky) McCutchen, Thomas Edward (TEM) McCutchen, Joe Dale McCutchen, Phillip Lynn McCutchen, Eldridge Glen McCutchen, Victor Wayne McCutchen, Wanda Marie Benningfield, Lloyd Allen McCutchen, Weldon Eugene McCutchen, Charles Quintin McCutchen, John Melvin McCutchen, Gladys Faye Rink, Janet Sue Moore, Margie Lee McGie, Neval Jay McCutchen, Ima Valen Hillyard, Ronald Eldridge McCutchen, Rodney Kent McCutchen, Linda Kay Marney, John Allen Parker, Jr, Carol Sue Gilham, Brian Lee Parker, Clarence Edward Parker as well as a host of great nieces and great nephews; and a host of fellow ministers, other friends and parishioners.
