Obituary

Lawrence J. (Larry) McGuire passed away on Thursday March 17 in Rockport, TX, of pancreatic cancer. He was 72 years old.He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Charles (Mickey) McGuire; mother, Mary Nell McGuire Froendhoff; and stepfather, Paul J. Froendhoff.He is survived by his loving wife, Kathryn (Sherry) McGuire with whom he would have celebrated their 50th anniversary in November; daughters, Kathryn McGuire Wilkins, and Michelle McGuire; and his 3 loving grandchildren, Mickey, Kristin and Trace Wilkins.; brothers, Edward Kelly McGuire and Daniel Charles McGuire; sisters, Michele McGuire DiGiacomo and Cecile McGuire Hawkins, and their spouses, children and grandchildren; and many longstanding friends from his career with Zenith Corporation and their thirty years in Highland Village TX; and nine cousins.Larry and Sherry retired to Rockport TX where they have enjoyed their dream of spending sunsets and morning coffee on the porch, time on the beach, traveling and hiking and making new friends.Larry was a remarkable man who took great care of his mother during her illness and who cherished his wife, daughters and grandchildren. He loved his entire family and was the gracious host of family Thanksgivings for 30 years. He grew up in Dallas TX and attended Christ the King Catholic School, Thomas Jefferson High School, and El Centro College. He was proud to have served in the Air Force as Airman 1st Class in Osan, Korea in 1964, serving 5 years active duty in Air Police, K-9 detail, including 3 years in SAC in TX, and 13 months in Korea. Larrys smile, his laugh, his feisty sense of humor and his living life to the fullest made us blessed to know him. Most of all it was his devotion to his wife, Sherry and their family that was most precious about him.He will be laid to rest, with military honors,at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, Texas 75211,where a brief memorial will be held on Friday, March 25, at 10:30 a.m. The family welcomes attendance at the service.The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Military Service Initiative (MSI) program of the George W.
