Mickie Ann White (née Riley)
April 23, 1931 – March 3, 2025
Mickie Ann White, née Riley, peacefully passed away at the age of 93 on March 3, 2025, at her home in Dallas, Texas.
Born on April 23, 1931, in Granbury, Texas, Mickie was a proud graduate of Waco High School. She attended North Texas State University for three years before embarking on her first marriage to William "Sparky" Alters. Together, they raised two sons, James Elliott Alters and William Bradford Alters, while Mickie balanced her roles as a homemaker and a dedicated professional in various sales and administrative positions.
In 1963, after her divorce from Sparky, Mickie married James Edward White, a lawyer with the federal Department of Labor in Dallas. Through this union, she became a loving stepmother to Janet Elizabeth White and Stuart Reagan White, and later welcomed her third son, Scott Riley White, into the family. She is also fondly remembered by her younger brother, William Riley, while her older brother, Jack Riley, predeceased her.
Throughout her vibrant life, Mickie embraced her passions for painting, travel, camping, and playing bridge. In her 60s, she enriched her love for art by spending six transformative weeks in Italy, participating in an art program alongside young, creative minds. A committed Scout mom, she was always there to support her children's extracurricular and sporting endeavors.
Mickie was predeceased by her parents, James Buster Riley and Mary House Riley; her stepdaughter, Janet White Leathers; her grandson, Patrick Oliver; and her husband, James White. She is survived by her cherished grandchildren—David Alters, Mary Alters, Matthew Alters, Jeremy Alters, Elizabeth Bolen, Carolyn Wholean, Dana White, Charlotte White Canter, Sawyer Riley White, and Silas Austin White—as well as several great grandchildren who will continue to carry forward her legacy of love and resilience.
For 50 years, Mickie was a devoted member of Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church, where her faith and generous spirit touched the hearts of many.
Mickie Ann White will be remembered for her warmth, her dedication to family, and her unwavering commitment to living life with passion and grace. Her legacy endures in the lives of those she loved and in the memories that will forever celebrate her remarkable journey.
