Jos A. Muoz, 78, died on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. A native of Gunica, Puerto Rico, he was born on March 13, 1940 to Jorge and Luz Muoz.Joe, or Keco as he was known to his countless friends, was a graduate of the Automotive Technology High School in Brooklyn, NY. A man of many facets, Joe was a talented musician, gifted mechanic and handyman, proud and faithful Knight of Columbus and member of the Diocese of Dallas Color Corps, former ACTS retreat Director, trusted friend, and loving sibling to his sisters and brothers, and incredible host with a special gift for hospitality. Fearlessly, he and his beloved wife. Elida, left NYC in 1974 to move to Carrollton to provide a better life for his family as an employee of American Airlines where he worked for 31 years until his retirement in 2003. He participated in a weekly rosary group for over 25 years and had a large diverse group of friends. He was an avid reader, especially of biographies, and passed down his fervent love of cars as proud owner of a 59 Hillman, 77 Trans Am, 86 Grand National and 96 Impala SS to his sons and grandsons. Throughout his life, he was famous for his ready wit and keen sense of humor always able to lighten the mood and bring a smile or hearty laugh to his many friends, co-workers, and family.His greatest legacy is as role model and example of faithful devotion he set for his family. He was a devoted husband to Elida for 56 years and dedicated father to Joe Jr. and his wife of 32 years, Sheri, of Carrollton, Texas, Pete and his wife of 28 years, Kellie, of Carrollton, Texas, Kris and her husband of 26 years, Paul Vetter, of Farmers Branch, Texas and Natalie and her husband of 8 years, Chris Adams, of Austin, Texas. He was a loyal, committed grandpa and Lelo to his six grandchildren and spouses, Joe III and his wife, Charlea, Kendall, Amanda and her husband, Jonathan, Stephen, Nick and Noah. He is survived by his siblings, Pedro Muoz of Puerto Rico, Hilda Muoz of New Jersey and Jorge Luis Muoz of Puerto Rico and predeceased by his parents and beloved sister Genoveva Yeya. He was always there to lend a hand in his own special and quiet way to all.The family would like to express our sincere thanks to the incredible doctors and nurses of the Intensive Care Unit of UT Southwestern William J. Clements University Hospital and especially Matt, Brenna, Elizabeth, Julia, Kelsey, Jen, Helen, and Michelle for their tender, compassionate care of our husband and father in his last difficult days.
