Nancy Ruth Hooser Gaines passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on January 26th 1938, in Fort Worth, Texas, she was the daughter of Harry Hooser and Sadie (Daughty) Wilson Hooser.
Nancy grew up a "Fort Worth Girl" she attended elementary school at Lily B. Clayton Elementary, McLean Junior High and Pascal High School where she was a member of the Phyladies Sorority. She graduated in 1956 and went on to attend Texas Tech University, were she pledged her beloved Zeta Tau Alpha sorority where she made lifelong friends in her Zeta sister. After graduation Nancy moved to Irving where she began her "first" career teaching elementary school. She always had an entrepreneurial heart and had several successful careers after teaching, including a jewelry store at Ridgemar Mall, as an interior decorator, and finally in 1977 she joined Max in the family dry cleaning business, and they continued working together until her death.
Nancy met her future husband Max Gaines at Texas Tech in1956. Max proposed in1960 and they married on August 5th, 1961, in Fort Worth, they were married for 63 years. Nancy was a devoted loving wife and supportive, generous and loving Mother, to their daughter Misty. She was a beautiful spirit known for her kindness, generosity, willingness to help others and unconditional love. Her love and support to her family and friends was a blessing to all she met. She enjoyed life, a good glass of wine, getting dressed up, which she shined at and "doing it right". She was faithful parishioner of Saint Matthias Anglican Church in Dallas and was devout in her love and faith for her Lord and Savior and relied on His guidance throughout her life.
Nancy is survived by her husband Max, daughter and son-in law Misty and David Krawetzke, grandson Kennith Appiah, niece and nephew, Gina and Glen Bennett, nephew Mat Gaines, great niece and nephew Saige and Mark Nichols their children, Charlie and Chase, great niece Blaire Bennett and many loving friends and family.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 28th at 1:00 at Saint Matthias Church, 3460 Forest Ln, Dallas, TX 75234 There will be a reception after the service at the home of Misty and David Krawetzke's 501 Byron Court, Irving, TX. 75038.
