Bertie Lee (Johnson) Newton of Cedar Hill, Texas passed away on Friday July 1, 2016 at the age of 83. Bertie was born in Buckholts, Texas to her parents, Amiel Meredith Johnson and Irene (Bross) Johnson on July 18, 1932.She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Thomas Albert Newton; siblings, Amiel Meredith Johnson, Jr., Frances Irene Smith, Leatha Mae Garrett and Phillip Wayne Johnson; daughter, Brenda Gayle Rico; grandson, Randall Gene Turner and great grandson, Joshua Blake Hamm.Bertie is survived by one brother, Alton Ray Johnson; her children, Doris and Dean Turner of Oklahoma, Stanley and Hazel Newton of Bridgeport, Texas, Judy and David Hamm of Emory, Texas, Glenda Yates of Cedar Hill, Texas, Charles Newton of Cedar Hill, Texas, Janet Kelly of Arlington, Texas, Debra Newton of Red Oak, Texas; 17 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.Graveside services will be on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 6000 South R.
