James Noel of Carrollton, Texas passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the age of 92.James was born in the Carrollton area in July 11, 1923, the son of a railroad man and County Deputy Constable whose father was also a railroad man.Jamess father died of a heart attack in the line of duty after breaking up a fight in Dallas on Dec. 5, 1941. Following his funeral on Dec. 7, 1941, Pearl Harbor day, James and other local boys enlisted to fight for their country. James served on a US Navy destroyer in the South Pacific, serving more than three years and seeing a lot of combat, earning the ship's nickname of "The Bloody E". While he was at war, he wrote many letters from the ship to his sweetheart back home, Jo Ann Good, asking her to wait for him to return. He returned and they married in 1946 and were married 67 years when she passed in 2013.He treasured his family, was always a quiet man and solid as a rock and was rarely if ever heard to complain and never recognized a birthday of his, but always had a smile and chuckle at the sight of a small child.He was known to help anyone who needed help and could fix virtually any equipment or vehicle. He loved to hunt and fish and passed that gift on to his sons.Visitation will be on Thursday, May 19, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel of the North Dallas Funeral Home, 2710 Valley View Lane, Farmers Branch, Texas 75234.Celebration of Life Service will be on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 2:00 pm in the Brooks Family Chapel.Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 10977 Harry Hines Blvd., Dallas, Texas 75220 following the service.Please leave the family condolences and share memories on this website.
