OUITA VERNON McCAA
Ouita Vernon McCaa died peacefully in her home on Monday, March 16, 2026, in Farmers
Branch, Texas. Ouita was born July 9, 1932, in Alexandria, Rapides Parish, Louisiana to William
P. Vernon, Sr. and Elizabeth A. Vernon. She grew up in West Monroe and Alexandria, Louisiana.
She graduated Bolton High School, Alexandria, in 1950. Ouita attended Louisiana Polytechnic
Institute, (now Louisiana Tech), where she majored in math and was an active member of Phi
Mu Sorority. It was at college that she met her future husband and best friend, James D. "Bud"
McCaa. Ouita and Bud married in June 1955 in her parents' home in Alexandria. They lead a
full, happy life built around their love for each other and their children. She and her family lived
in Shreveport until 1971 when they moved to Farmers Branch. Ouita was active in the education
of both of her children but especially for Susanne for whom she was homeroom mom, carpool
driver, summer camp driver, and deaf educator. Ouita was preceded in death by her husband, her
parents, and her brothers Paul, Jr., Arnold, and Charles. She is survived by her daughter,
Susanne, and by her son, Patrick, and his wife, Christie, and their children, Conor and Clare, her
sister-in-law Ladye Harveston, and nieces and nephews. She is missed by her family and her
remaining friends.
