Patricia Horne
Neill
Mar 21, 1936 — Oct 26, 2026
Dallas, TX
Patricia H. Neill, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother went to be with the Lord on Monday, October 26.
Patricia, primarily known as Pat to her friends, was born March 21, 1936, in Greeley Colorado to Carl Hewlett Horne and Hulda Bliley Horne. She was the oldest of three siblings, Julie Huebner and Chuck Horne. Carl was a civil engineer. He worked on projects all over that country which led to the family living in multiple cities during Patricia’s youth. She started high school at Menlo-Atherton High School, near San Francisco, but graduated from Shades Valley High School in Birmingham Al.
Upon graduation from high school, Patricia attended college at Randolph-Macon Woman’s College in Ashland Virginia. After graduation from college, Patricia moved to NYC to accept a job as a buyer for Lord and Taylor. Upon arriving in NYC, she lived in a women’s dormitory in the Gramercy Park neighborhood. As luck would have it, young single women were not the only new minted New Yorkers who needed affordable housing, and there was a comparable dormitory for men across the street. The two homes had regular social events. During one of these events, Patricia met her future husband, Frank K. Neill Jr., who was in the investment business at Bankers Trust.
On September 2, 1961, Patricia and Frank were married in Manhattan and began their 63-year marriage. After a few years in the city, Frank and Patricia moved to New Rochelle in Westchester County, where Frank became a commuter and Patricia managed the home. In June of 1964, Frank K Neill III (“Scott”), the first of three sons was born, followed by Carl in 1967, and Stephen in 1969.
In 1966, Frank was offered a job in the Salomon Brothers office in Atlanta and was happily reunited with his sisters, Dorothy and Peggy, who both lived in Atlanta. Having family there who adored Patricia, made it a very a comfortable transition, especially since they bought a house right down the street from Frank’s eldest sister Dorothy Campbell. During this period, the family also found its love for Monteagle, TN. The cousins had a home there, and the Neill Family began its long-time tradition of spending the month of July in The Monteagle assembly in the Appalachian Mountains.
In January 1973, Frank accepted an offer to run The Soloman Brother’s office In Dallas, TX. The family moved to the Highland Park neighborhood. The next chapter was wonderful. The family settled on Versailles Ave, and a block full of kids and wonderful families. Frank and Patricia became active, life-long members at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. They loved their Dallas friends and neighbors, the membership at the Dallas Country club, and the general Dallas lifestyle. A special mention to all the friends at Dallas Women’s Club, H.P. Striders, and the bridge and mahjong groups where Patricia formed such special relationships.
Unfortunately, none of the kid’s careers led them back to Dallas, but that did not stop Frank and Patricia from visiting Chicago, Atlanta and Charlotte at every possible chance to dote on their grandchildren.
Patricia is survived by her children, Frank (“Scott”) K. Neill III and wife Christi with children Michael and Frank IV and wife Rachel; Carl H. Neill and wife Alice with children Charlie and Ashley and Stephen M. Neill and wife Jenny with children Stephen, Jr., Audrey and Lauren. Patricia was a beloved matriarch who left a legacy of love and modeled a strong Christian marriage. She loved her sons and daughters- in-law, recognizing them as the daughters that she always wanted. She absolutely delighted in and cherished her seven grandchildren and the time she spent with each of them. We are all very blessed to have had Patricia in our life, she will be dearly missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to either CRU at “cru.org” or Wycliffe Bible Translators at “wycliffe.org”.
