It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Patsy Stewart Hickman , who departed this life peacefully on May 28, 2025, surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 89.
Born on October 21, 1935, in Shreveport, Louisiana, to Ralph and Lucy Mae Stewart, Patsy was the younger of two children. She attended Fair Park High School in Shreveport, where she met her lifelong love and husband, Charles Hickman. The couple married on July 6, 1956, and after a honeymoon in Florida, they relocated to Dallas, Texas, where Charles accepted a position with Chance Vought Aircraft.
Patsy shared a special bond with her sister, Janice Stewart Kramer, who was her dearest friend and constant companion throughout life.
For 62 years, Patsy was an active and devoted member of First Baptist Dallas, where she nurtured many close relationships grounded in faith. She had a deep passion for spreading the word of God and dedicated much of her life to teaching Sunday School, pouring her heart into helping others grow in their knowledge of Scripture and in their personal walk with Christ. Her life was centered on furthering the message of Jesus, her Savior, and she was a shining example of grace, compassion, and unwavering devotion.
After raising her children, Patsy pursued a professional career in the insurance industry, working for Principal Financial Group, where she enjoyed a very successful and fulfilling career. She was respected for her professionalism, work ethic, and the kindness she extended to both colleagues and clients.
Patsy was also very active in her high school reunion committee and was blessed to attend her 66th high school reunion with Charles in 2019, celebrating decades of friendship and memories.
She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Patsy lived a life of love and faith, always putting others before herself and offering steadfast support to those around her. Her warmth and gentle presence brought comfort and joy to many, and her legacy will endure in the hearts of those she touched.
She is survived by her children, Scott (Patricia), Phillip (Leigh Anne), and Holly (Gregory); her grandchildren, Ryan (Tessa), Reid (Gabby), Collin, and Nicky; and her great-grandchild, Cash.
Patsy was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Lucy Mae Stewart, her beloved husband Charles, her sister Janice, and many dear family and friends who welcomed her to heaven.
Patsy's entire family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to her devoted care companions at Parkview in Frisco and the compassionate team from Centric Home Health and Hospice Care. Their loving presence and gentle support during her final days brought great comfort and peace.
Patsy Stewart Hickman will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her generous heart, and the light she brought into every room. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always.
