Obituary

Paul Michael Thomas, 61, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on April 2, 2026.

Born to Bill Thomas of Dallas and Christina Carroll of Dublin, Ireland, on December 24, 1964, he was aptly brought home in a Christmas stocking. Paul was a man of many talents and boundless energy. He built a successful career as an entrepreneur in the business furniture industry and later found joy in home remodeling and ranch management. Nothing captured his heart like ranch life. His true passion became the small ranch he called home near Lake Whitney. There, Paul poured himself into every detail — overseeing the construction of barns and fences, clearing land, planting pastures, and turning raw acreage into a working retreat he could be proud of. From dawn until dusk, he could be found on his beloved tractor, grading roads, removing debris, or simply riding the property lines with a quiet smile. With dirt on his boots and a project always underway, Paul was at his happiest in the open air, where hard work met peace, and the only schedule that mattered was the one set by the sun and the seasons. Charismatic, quick-witted, and fearless, Paul possessed a legendary sense of humor that could lighten any room. He was an avid enjoyer of music, politics, and dogs, and had a deep appreciation for a good polo shirt and a pair of exotic-skinned boots. He never hesitated to confront nonsense head-on, yet he had a remarkable gift for bringing people together and building consensus across all walks of life. Above all else, Paul loved his daughter, Ashlyn, and family deeply. He was fiercely proud of them. He is survived by his daughter, Ashlyn Thomas of Dallas; his siblings, Debbie Thomas Leather of Highlands Ranch, Colorado, Rob Thomas of San Marcos, Texas, and James Thomas of Frisco, Texas; and a host of extended family and friends who will miss his larger-than-life personality.

A memorial and celebration of life will be held at North Dallas Funeral Home at 2710 Valley View Ln., Farmers Branch, TX 75234.

Paul lived life on his own terms — boldly, joyfully, and without apology. He will be remembered for his laughter, his tireless work ethic, his loyalty, and the unmistakable spark he brought to everyone fortunate enough to know him.
