Harold Pollman, the son of Sarah (Sallie) and Paul Pollman, was raised in the prairie state of North Dakota, and it defined his character. He worked alongside his father transporting furs from Canada to the U.S. fur markets from the age of 10, earning 10 cents an hour for a ten-hour day. His father, a Russian immigrant at the turn of the 20th century, taught him
